War On Pornography

As I've said before, I'm not a fan of Nick Denton and his doings. Having said that, I'm even less a fan of John Ashcroft's strange obsession with prosecuting pornographers, especially at a time when the administration of which he's a part makes such a big deal about the threat posed by terrorism. With that in mind, I'd like to do my bit to help Mr. Ashcroft and his allies with their "War on Pornography".

It is completely lost on these clowns that when they claim that terrorists "hate us because we love freedom", it is that very freedom they're undermining when they launch idiotic "wars" like this one. Frankly, given the horrendous record of the "War on Drugs", the "War on Poverty" and all the other government initiated "wars" on some percieved social ill or another, one would think these fools would look back on the sorry track record and ask themselves "Is this really doable, and would it be worthwhile even if it were?" Of course, they aren't going to, not as long as there's still a portion of the Bible left to be turned into legislation; in that respect, they're little different from the very extremists American lives and treasure were expended deposing in Afghanistan.
